Vietnam: Expected to account for 8%-9% of global chip assembly, testing capacity

In fact, foreign companies have been expanding their chip testing and packaging capacity in Vietnam as industrial activity rapidly shifts away from China. Thanks largely to investments from foreign companies, Vietnam is expected to account for 8%-9% of global chip assembly, testing, and packaging (ATP) capacity by 2032, up from just 1% in 2022, according to a report by the US Semiconductor Industry Association and Boston Consulting Group.

Vietnam: Ready to accelerate the development of the semiconductor industry

According to the Minister of Planning and Investment, many leading technology corporations have plans to shift their supply chains to Vietnam, not only investing in production, but also building research and development centers in the fields of semiconductors and AI. Currently, there are 174 FDI projects in the semiconductor field, with a total registered capital of nearly 11.6 billion USD. And many other large projects, possibly worth billions of USD, will be invested in the near future.

Vietnam: E-Commerce to grow 20% in 2024

In the first 10 months of 2024, the growth of the B2C e-commerce market reached 18-20%. Vietnam: What criteria must be met for investing in high-tech projects?

Circular 08/2024/TT-BKHCN includes two sets of criteria: investment projects in high-tech research and development facilities; investment projects applying high technology to produce high-tech products. The Circular will take effect from December 23, 2024, opening up new opportunities and challenges in developing high-tech projects in high-tech zones in Vietnam, while improving the quality of research and production in this field.

Vietnam: Will propose to develop the Law on E-commerce in 2025

In 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will study and propose to develop the Law on E-Commerce to institutionalize the Party’s guidelines and policies, the State’s policies, unify the legal system on E-commerce in relation to other laws, ensuring the consistency and synchronization of the legal system. Along with that, the Ministry will complete and submit to the Prime Minister for promulgation the Master Plan for the development of national E-Commerce for the period 2026-2030.

Vietnam: A series of Chinese car assembly and production projects will begin in 2025

In April, Geleximco Group and Omoda & Jaecoo Automobile Co., Ltd. signed a joint venture contract to invest in building an automobile manufacturing plant in Hung Phu Industrial Park with a value of more than 800 million USD. In September, Geely Auto signed a joint venture contract with Tasco JSC to assemble and distribute cars in Thai Binh, with a scale of 30 ha. In addition to Geely, Thai Binh is also the location where Chery chose as its production “base” 

Vietnam: Industrial Real Estate – supply increases, rental prices also ‘climb’

The Ministry of Construction pointed out that the demand for industrial real estate in the market tends to increase. Regarding rental prices, in the Northern region, the average rental price reached about 130 USD/sqm/rental cycle, up 1% QoQ and 5.7%YoY. Due to high demand, some projects in Bac Ninh and Hung Yen even increased prices by 10% in the quarter. Meanwhile, in the Southern region, the average rental price reached about 176 USD/sqm/rental cycle, stable QoQ but up 5.6% YoY.

Vietnam: Industrial production, import and export set new records in 2024

The industrial production index in the first 11 months of 2024 increased by 8.4%over the same period last year, the highest increase in the period from 2020 to present. Hanoi: Commencement of 3 Industrial Clusters (IC) of nearly 43 hectares

On December 26, the People’s Committee of Quoc Oai District commenced construction of 3 new ICs, including Ngoc My – Thach Than Craft Village IC, Nghia Huong IC and Ngoc Liep IC (expansion), with a total area of nearly 4.3 ha. Of which, Ngoc My – Thach Than Craft Village IC has an area of 2.09 ha and a total investment of 438 billion VND. Nghia Huong IC has an area of 1.2 ha and a total investment of 277 billion VND. Ngoc Liep IC (expansion) has an area of 9.5 ha, with a total investment of 193 billion VND.

Hai Phong: Establishment of Hai Phong Southern Coastal Economic Zone

The Deputy Prime Minister has just signed Decision No. 1511/QD-TTg dated December 4, 2024 to establish Hai Phong Southern Coastal Economic Zone (EZ). This is a coastal economic zone with an area of 20,000 ha located in the Southeast of the city. Period up to 2025: Organize the establishment and approval of functional zoning plans in the EZ. Period 2026 – 2030: Implement investment in the construction of functional zones in the EZ. Period after 2030: Implement the remaining investment items.

Hai Phong: BW starts construction of 12th project

On December 4, BW Industrial Development JSC (BW) officially started construction of BW Deep C 2 Industrial & Logistis Park in Hai An District, Hai Phong City. This is BW’s 12th new project of the year, successfully completing the project development target set by the investor for 2024, and bringing the total construction floor area this year to over 1 million sqm. BW is expected to reach more than 1.1 million sqm of leasable area in 2024, 2.5 times higher than the business results in 2021.

Hai Phong: Starts construction of Nguyen Trai Bridge

On December 18, the People’s Committee of Hai Phong City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Nguyen Trai Bridge construction investment project and urban beautification of the surrounding area. This is the 6th bridge across the Cam River connecting Ngo Quyen District with Thuy Nguyen District, expected to be completed and put into use in 2027. It is invested by the Hai Phong Traffic Construction Investment Management Board, with a total investment of 6,235 billion VND.

Khanh Hoa: Approval of Doc Da Trang Industrial Park planning

Doc Da Trang Industrial Park located in Van Phong Economic Zone has just had its 1/2000 construction zoning plan approved. According to the planning plan, the project is located in Van Hung commune, Van Ninh district and Ninh Tho commune, Ninh Hoa town, invested by Viglacera Yen My Industrial Park Development JSC. The project scale is nearly 288 ha with a total investment of about 1,800 billion VND. The project will operate for 50 years and is expected to attract about 16,000 workers.

Khanh Hoa: Calling for investment in 4 new Industrial Parks

Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee said that currently, there are 2 industrial parks (IP) in the province (Suoi Dau IP and Ninh Thuy IP) that have come into operation, with an occupancy rate of about 63.6%. The province also has 1 IP that has been approved for investment by the Prime Minister (Doc Da Trang IP) and 4 industrial parks calling for investment: Nam Cam Ranh Industrial Park, Ninh Xuan Industrial Park, Ninh Son Industrial Park, Ninh Diem Industrial Park.

Tay Ninh: VRG receives investment certificate for nearly 500-hectare Industrial Park

Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG) has just received the investment registration certificate for the project “Investment in construction and business of infrastructure of Hiep Thanh Industrial Park Phase 1” granted by the Tay Ninh Provincial Economic Zone Management Board. The project is located between Da Hang Hamlet and Giua Hamlet, Hiep Thanh Commune, Go Dau District, with a land use scale of more than 495 has, with a total investment capital of VND 2,350 billion.

Tay Ninh: Tan Cang Saigon officially operates at Moc Bai International Border Gate

On December 25, at Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone, Tan Cang Tay Ninh JSC, Tan Cang Saigon Corporation held the opening ceremony of the Depot at Tan Cang Moc Bai dry port. The project has a total area of 16.52 hectares, with a total cost of 552 billion VND. Ha Nam: Establishment of Ha Nam High-Tech Park

Deputy Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1541/QD-TTg to establish Ha Nam High-Tech Park. The project covers an area of 663.19 hectares in the communes of Tran Hung Dao, Nhan My, Nhan Nghia, Nhan Binh, Xuan Khe and Phu Phuc, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province. According to the plan, the first phase will focus on attracting high technology in the fields of artificial intelligence, electronics – semiconductors, biotechnology and medicine, and new materials technology.

Dong Nai: Investment in construction and business of Phuoc Binh 2 Industrial Park

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just signed Decision No. 1665/QD-TTg dated December 27, 2024 on the investment policy of the project to invest in construction and business of Phuoc Binh 2 Industrial Park; at the same time, approving the investor of the Project as Nhon Trach 6A Industrial Park Investment and Construction One Member Co., Ltd. It has a scale of 287.3 ha, located in Phuoc Binh commune and Tan Hiep commune, Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province.

Bac Giang: Investment in construction and business of Xuan Cam – Huong Lam IP

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 1679/QD-TTg dated December 27, 2024 on the investment policy of the project to invest in construction and business of infrastructure of Xuan Cam – Huong Lam Industrial Park, phase 1; at the same time, approved the investor as S-Dragon Infrastructure Investment JSC. The project area is 102.85 ha; located is in Xuan Cam and Huong Lam communes, Hiep Hoa district, Bac Giang province; investment capital is 1,467.5 billion VND.

Binh Duong: Approval of investment in Rach Bap Expansion Industrial Park

On December 27, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 1664/QD-TTg on the investment policy for the project to invest in construction and business of infrastructure of Rach Bap Expansion Industrial Park; at the same time, approving the investor as An Dien Industrial JSC. The land use scale of the project is 360ha; in An Tay commune and An Dien commune, Ben Cat town, Thanh Tuyen and Lap commune, Dau Tieng district, Binh Duong province.

Binh Duong: Construction of Tam Lap 2 Industrial Cluster commenced

On December 6, Binh Duong province officially commenced construction of Tam Lap 2 Industrial Cluster in Tam Lap commune, Phu Giao district with a total area of 50 ha and an investment capital of nearly VND1,000 billion. The project is expected to attract investment in industries such as garment, electronics, telecommunications, food processing, wood processing, animal feed, poultry, metal products, interior and exterior products, etc.

Nghe An: VSIP proposes to build an additional 220-hectare Industrial Park

VSIP Nghe An Company Limited has just submitted a proposal to the People’s Committee of Nghe An asking for approval of the location for the VSIP Nghe An 3 Industrial Park project. The proposed project is located in Industrial Park No. 8 with a scale of 220 hectares, located in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district. Regarding site clearance, VSIP Nghe An has completed 681.1 hectares out of a total of 750 hectares.

Nghe An: Luxshare invests an additional VND 5,300 billion

Luxshare Co., Ltd., one of the leading component manufacturers for Apple, Samsung, Huawei, has just announced a plan to increase its investment capital by an additional USD208.5 million. It is deployed on an area of 40.6 ha at VSIP Nghe An Industrial Park. It is divided into 4 components, of which component 1 is expected to be operational from December 2024; component 2 will be operational in September 2025 and components 3 and 4 are expected to be operational from June 2026.

Ho Chi Minh: Plans to add 10 New Industrial Parks (IP)

HEPZA proposes solutions to form about 800 ha of additional industrial land (Hiep Phuoc Phase 2 IP, Le Minh Xuan Expansion IP, Le Minh Xuan 2 IP and Pham Van Hai 1 and 2 IP). Regarding the pilot project to convert 05 industrial parks and export processing zones (Tan Thuan, Tan Binh, Cat Lai, Binh Chieu, Hiep Phuoc), HCM has established a Working Group and an Editorial Team to develop a Project on specific mechanisms and policies to support the conversion of 5 industrial parks.

Da Nang: Establishing Hoa Lien Industrial Cluster

The People’s Committee of Da Nang City has just issued a decision to establish Hoa Lien Industrial Cluster (Hoa Lien Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City). The project was established on the basis of the technical infrastructure of the Auxiliary Area serving the Da Nang High-Tech Park project, with a total area of over 58.53 hectares and a total investment of over VND 235.11 billion. It is expected that in 2024 – 2027, the project will be converted, established and put into operation.

Da Nang: Boeing 787 Aviation Components Factory Comes into Operation

On December 13, at Da Nang High-Tech Park, KP Aerospace Vietnam Co., Ltd.(Korea) held the inauguration ceremony of the KP Vina Aviation Components Factory project. After 1 year of construction, the project has completed phase 1, with the initial work package being the manufacture of the tilt-wing tip assembly of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This is the second project in the aerospace sector invested in Da Nang High-Tech Park after the Sunshine Aviation Components Factory project (USA).

Phu Tho: Groundbreaking ceremony for Dong Phi Industrial Cluster

On December 6, in Xuan Ang commune, Ha Hoa district, Phu Tho province, the People’s Committee of Ha Hoa district and Cosmos 1 Technology Company Limited broke ground for Dong Phi Industrial Cluster. It is deployed on an area of 74.77 ha, with a total investment of 492 billion VND. It is planned and implemented to create favorable conditions to anticipate the trend of investment shifting from the plains (limited land fund, high investment rate) to the midlands and mountainous areas.

Lang Son: Bac Son 2 Industrial Cluster Construction Started

On December 19, in Chien Thang Commune, Bac Son District, TDG Global Investment JSC started construction of Bac Son 2 Industrial Cluster with an area of nearly 25 ha; the project has a total investment of over 280 billion VND. It is designed with separate functional areas with the main industries being food production and processing; beverage production; wood; bamboo and rattan product processing; tobacco product production; garment production; leather and related products production; ect.

Lang Son: Viettel Logistics Park Inauguration

On December 11, in Lang Son, Viettel Logistics Park invested by the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group was officially inaugurated and put into operation. Covering an area of 143.7 hectares, the project is designed according to LEED standards and built to the highest standards of technology (such as IoT, 5G, AI, Big Data and Digital Twins) and automation (such as Smart Locker, drones, autonomous vehicles).

Ha Tinh: VinFast kicks off electric car factory project

On December 8, VinFast officially kicked off the project to build an electric car factory in Vung Ang Economic Zone. It is built on an area of over 36 ha, invested by Vinhomes Ha Tinh Industrial Park Investment Joint Stock Company. The factory is expected to be inaugurated in July 2025, after 8 months of construction. With a capacity of 300,000 vehicles/year in phase 1 and expected to expand to 600,000 vehicles/year, this factory is expected to create up to 15,000 jobs in the future.

Binh Phuoc: Investment certificates granted to 32 enterprises

On December 14, the People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc province granted investment certificates to 32 enterprises with a total investment capital of 628.7 million USD. Of which, the Phase 2 automobile tire factory project of HaoHua Vietnam Co., Ltd. is the project with the largest total investment capital of 280 million USD. Other projects have a total investment of 15 to 30 million USD, with investment sectors such as interior, industry, chemicals, real estate, logistics, etc.

Binh Phuoc: Groundbreaking ceremony for HCM – Thu Dau Mot – Chon Thanh Expressway

On December 14, Binh Phuoc province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the HCM – Thu Dau Mot – Chon Thanh Expressway (section through Binh Phuoc province) with a total length of 6.6 km. The HCM – Thu Dau Mot – Chon Thanh Expressway has a total length of 68.7 km, passing through HCM, Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc. Of which, the section through Binh Phuoc has a total investment of VND 1,474 billion; he project implementation period is from 2024 to 2026.

Vinh Phuc: Sojitz and Vinamilk’s beef factory has been put into operation

On December 17, Sojitz Group announced the inauguration of the Vinabeef factory in Tam Dao with a capacity of 10,000 tons/year. This is one of the largest beef farming and processing complexes in Vietnam, with a total investment of 500 million USD. Sojitz aims to process and supply the market with about 10,000 tons of chilled beef per year. The plan is to start operating a cattle farm near the factory by March 2025 to close the chain from farming to processing and distribution.

Vinh Phuc: Granting investment certificates to 5 FDI projects

Vinh Phuc has just granted investment certificates to 5 FDI projects with a total capital of 140 million USD. Including: UTI VINA Factory Project of Korea (35 million USD); Investment project to build a ceramic tile factory of Thai investor Prime-Tien Phong (32.5 million USD); DST VINA 2 Factory Project of Thai investor (27.5 million USD); Investment project to build an electronic component factory of DKT Vina (Korea) (24.9 million USD); M&K Vietnam Precision Factory Project (18 million USD).

Hau Giang: Hanh Nguyen Logistics opens irradiation factory

Recently, Hanh Nguyen Logistics has just put into operation the irradiation machine with the largest capacity in Vietnam. This is the first full-service Logistics Center in Vietnam to optimize the preservation and processing of agricultural products after harvest, avoid loss, improve quality, value and increase competitiveness of agricultural products in the market. The irradiation machine with a capacity of 1,000 tons/day and night helps to quickly irradiate all items such as fresh fruit, processed fruit, ect.

Binh Dinh: Dai Thanh Aluminum opens another factory worth 350 billion VND

The Management Board of Binh Dinh Economic Zone has just approved the investment policy and approved the investor for Dai Thanh Aluminum Company Limited to implement the Dai Thanh Aluminum and Steel Furniture Factory Project. The project is implemented in Nhon Hoi Industrial Park (Area A), Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, Nhon Hoi Commune, Quy Nhon City with an area of over 9.9 hectares. The total investment capital of the project is 350 billion VND.

Binh Dinh: Attracting another foreign investment project worth 10 million USD

The Management Board of Binh Dinh Economic Zone has just granted an investment registration certificate to Lehome International Company Limited (Hong Kong, China) to implement the Gainwell Vietnam High-end Interior and Exterior Products Factory Project. It is located in Nhon Hoi Industrial Park (Area A), Nhon Hoi Economic Zone with an area of over 5.5 ha and a total investment of over VND 254 billion. The project implementation progress is from November 2024 to March 2027.

Hai Duong: Additional 90 million USD to Dai An Expansion Industrial Park

Dai An Expansion Industrial Park has just attracted 2 more secondary projects with a total investment of 90 million USD. Accordingly, the first project is of Sunshine Vietnam Co., Ltd. of Singapore. This is an outdoor furniture factory project, with a total capital of 60 million USD. The second project is a factory investment project of New Star Co., Ltd. (USA), with a total capital of 30 million USD. The project specializes in assembling motorcycles and off-road motorbikes with a scale of 40,000 products/year.

Ba Ria – Vung Tau: D2D invests in 6 factory projects

The Industrial Urban Development JSC No. 2 has just approved the investment in 6 factories for rent on a land area of nearly 48,000sqm. Specifically, the 6 factories for rent will be built on a land area of nearly 4.8ha, located in Chau Duc Industrial Park, Suoi Nghe Commune, Chau Duc District, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province. The total estimated investment for these 6 factories for rent is more than 233 billion VND. The expected implementation period is from February 2024 to December 2026.

Quang Tri: There is a 130 billion VND plywood production project

The Management Board of Quang Tri Economic Zone said that it has approved the policy and approved the investor Khanh Hung Quang Tri One Member Co., Ltd. to implement the Khanh Hung plywood factory project. Accordingly, the project will be implemented at Nam Dong Ha Industrial Park, Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province with an expected land area of 66,261sqm. The project will be operated, tested, and put the entire project into production and business in the Q4/2026.

Long An: BWID launches Phu An Thanh project

BW Industrial Development Joint Stock Company has just started construction of BW Phu An Thanh Industrial Hub (“PAT”). This is the 13th project of the year, exceeding the plan of 12 projects in 2024 that the company set out earlier this year. Upon completion, the PAT project will become a ready-built factory (RBF) cluster providing a total floor area of up to approximately 54,000 sqm. The PAT project is expected to be completed by the end of the Q2/2025.

Thai Binh: Inauguration of Paint Factory Project

Recently, TLG Vietnam Production Joint Stock Company inaugurated the Quang Lan – Tuylips Paint factory project in Hung Nhan Industrial Park, Hung Ha District, Thai Binh. The project covers an area of 40,000sqm, owns a modern PLC automated production line, with a capacity of 45 million liters of water-based paint and 28,000 tons of putty powder per year. When put into operation, this paint factory will create jobs for over 250 local workers.

Quang Ninh: Approving the Master Plan for the Bac Phong Sinh Border Gate EZ

Deputy Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1618/QD-TTg dated December 20, 2024 approving the Master Plan for the construction of the Bac Phong Sinh Border Gate Economic Zone, Quang Ninh Province until 2045. Regarding the planning boundary, the project belongs to the administrative boundary of the entire Quang Duc commune, Hai Ha district. The planning scale includes the entire natural area of Quang Duc commune with a total area of about 9,373.43 hectares.

Lao Cai: Announcement of the opening of Dong Pho Moi Dry Port

The Ministry of Transport has just issued Decision No. 1549/QD-BGTVT announcing the opening of Dong Pho Moi Dry Port. It is located in Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park, Pho Moi Ward, Lao Cai City; with an area of 50,000sqm; The investor is VIMC Logistics Joint Stock Company. It has a scale of building a system of warehouses, yards, auxiliary technical infrastructure systems, and loading and unloading equipment to meet the volume of goods passing through about 65,000 TEU/year.

Soc Trang: Construction of Dai Ngai 1 bridge and approach road

On December 9, Project Management Board 85 held the launching ceremony of Package 15 – XL for construction of Dai Ngai 1 bridge and approach roads at both ends of the bridge under the Dai Ngai Bridge Construction Investment Project. The project is located on National Highway 60 with a length of 15 km, the starting point intersects with National Highway 54 in Tra Vinh province; the end point intersects with National Highway Nam Song Hau in Soc Trang province.
